WITH BRIDGES WE RISE

Countries are obsessed with construction.

Every economic success story begins with an ambitious construction project.

Especially the high and the mighty types.

Take for examples cities like Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai.

All went through a major real estate boom en-route to financial supremacy.

And almost all cities across the world has one towering jewel in the construction crown.

So why is a high rise more important than a low rise ?

As kids we learn to look up into the sky

The day sky seemed limitless and the night sky is filled with stars.

It appeals to the inner child wanting to grow up. It forces us to dream.

Somehow, we believe that we progress if we can soar high in the sky.

For us, growth has become a vertical idea.

We have to rise above the messy ground reality level to a place that is higher up.

We also define ambition in terms of height.

While real estate booms, the real explosive element behind this boom is the humble bridge.

A bridge is supposed to connect two land-ends.

But bridges today have become the metaphor for superiority.

Because it signifies the manipulation of multiple elements of nature.

Earth, Wind, Water etc

A bridge is different from the sky-scraping prowess of a building.

Probably more respectful than just high stack of concrete and steel.

Bridges are far more dynamic that just a brutal slab of concrete.

While skyscrapers count the floors, bridges link the land to the a mainland.

It makes the not so prime land ... expensively prime.

Bridges add to the mainland and helps cities become more sprawling.

There is evidence to proof that bridges, metro lines can do wonders for real estate pricing.

In Vietnam, bridges have played a significant role in linking commerce and trade.

Today we look up to to bridges as much as we admire tall buildings.

Virtually, every big city in this country has its own celebrity bridge.

Usually well lit and well integrated into the rising skylines.

So the next time you see a bridge...

Think a bit more about its role than its enormous form and presence !
